12 Unique Ideas to Take Yourself on a Solo Date in Los Cabos
I adore taking myself on a solo date.
Not because plans fell through, nobody else was available, or I am trying to prove that I can do everything alone. I genuinely love choosing a few hours, or sometimes an entire day, and planning it around what would make me feel good.
I can take my time getting ready, order exactly what I want, linger somewhere beautiful, and change the plan without consulting anyone. I can be social when I feel like it, disappear into my own little world when I do not, and go home the second my bed starts sounding more appealing.
It is one of my favorite ways to pour back into myself.
That is also what I love about traveling alone. Your trip does not have to be built around another person’s appetite, energy level, budget, or sleep schedule. You get to notice what you are naturally drawn to when nobody else is influencing the day.
San José del Cabo makes that especially easy. You can spend one morning learning something completely new, one afternoon being pampered by the water, and one evening dressed up and wandering through galleries. You can meet people without giving up your independence, or enjoy an entire day without needing to make conversation with anyone.
This is not a list of things to do while you wait for company. These are actual solo dates worth getting excited about.
1. Spend a Morning at ACRE and Horseback Riding at Rancho Animas

For a solo date that is both peaceful and a little adventurous, book a horseback ride at Rancho Animas at ACRE Resort.
The rides are led by Lencho, who knows the horses, trails, and surrounding landscape incredibly well. Let the team know your riding experience when you reserve, and they can help make the ride feel comfortable, even if it has been years since you were last on a horse.
I would book an early morning ride, especially during the warmer months, when the air is cooler and the property feels quieter. Wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and plenty of sun protection, then let yourself enjoy seeing this side of Los Cabos at a much slower pace.
Afterward, walk over to Fausto’s Diner for coffee, a smoothie, or breakfast. Fausto’s is on-site and more casual than ACRE’s main restaurant, with a covered terrace, air conditioning, baked treats, fresh fruit, and an all-day menu during the week. On weekends, the menu is more limited, so a weekday is best when you want to make a proper breakfast or lunch part of the date.
Once you have eaten, take your time walking through the property. ACRE is home to peacocks, donkeys, goats, pigs, horses, rabbits, and other animals, along with dogs currently available for adoption.
The caretakers can also help you take one of the adoptable dogs for a walk around the grounds. It is such a sweet way to give a dog a little extra attention while you are there, although there is a very real chance you will spend the rest of the trip wondering whether you can bring one home.
Between the horseback ride, breakfast at Fausto’s, and time with the animals, this easily becomes a full, unhurried solo morning without needing to rush anywhere else.
2. Book a Private Sound Bath in Los Cabos
A sound-healing session is a beautiful way to give yourself a quieter afternoon without necessarily needing to leave your hotel or Airbnb.
Sound Healing Los Cabos offers both public and personalized sound baths that can be arranged at your accommodation, in its Cabo San Lucas studio, or in another agreed-upon setting. Sessions use instruments such as crystal bowls and gongs, creating an experience that is restful, immersive, and especially lovely after a few full days of exploring.
I would book it for the late afternoon, change into something comfortable, and keep the rest of the evening open. Once the session ends, take a long shower, order something delicious, and enjoy a slow night in rather than immediately getting ready for another reservation.
3. Take a Sunset Tai Chi Class at Ánima Village
For a solo date that is a mixture of calm, social, and a little different from your usual vacation workout, look for a Tai Chi class at Ánima Village.
The open-air village at Cabo del Sol has hosted Tai Chi sessions around sunset, including Tuesday classes at 5:00 p.m. Because the wellness calendar can change, check the current schedule on their Instagram page before building your evening around it.
Tai Chi is gentle enough to enjoy even if you have already spent the day walking, swimming, or hiking. You can arrive alone, follow the instructor through the slow movements, and enjoy being part of a group without the pressure of needing to meet or talk to anyone.
After class, stay at Ánima Village for dinner, browse the shops, or simply walk around while the evening cools down. Wear something comfortable enough to move in, but bring a light layer so you can transition into dinner without needing to return to your hotel first.
4. Spend a Slow Morning With Coffee and a Book at Café Saturno
When you want a softer morning away from the hustle and bustle of Cabo San Lucas, take yourself to Café Saturno in El Tezal.
It has the kind of warm, nostalgic atmosphere that makes you want to settle in instead of grabbing a coffee and immediately leaving. There are books tucked throughout the space, vintage details, cozy corners, and a mix of English- and Spanish-language titles to browse. The English selection is smaller and more curated, but you may still find something new to read during your trip. Besides, it’s more about the vibe anyway.
Order a coffee, choose a book from the shelves, and give yourself permission to stay for a while. Café Saturno also serves breakfast, lunch, and comfort food, so the date can easily turn into a long morning rather than a quick café stop.
You can even bring the book you are already reading, play a quiet game of chess, or simply sit somewhere with a little character and watch the day unfold around you.
I love this option for a solo traveler who wants to step away from Cabo’s resorts, beach clubs, and louder tourist areas for a few hours. It still feels social and welcoming, but you can also choose to keep completely to yourself if you please.
5. Saturday Open Play Pickleball + Organic Tacos
Photo via Club La Huerta
Club La Huerta is one of the first places I would send a solo traveler if they were looking for something fun and active to do in San José del Cabo.
It’s where I started playing pickleball a couple of months ago after my dad introduced me to the sport while visiting from Canada. He went home, but his pickleball obsession stayed with me.
I started taking lessons with Roger, the pro coach at La Huerta. He’s hilarious, patient, and is a gifted teacher. The whole experience felt much less intimidating with him around, which matters when you are holding a paddle for the first time and have no idea where the ball is going.
You don’t need to bring a partner, arrive with a group, or already know how to play. Book a private lesson or just show up for beginner-friendly open play, and don’t worry about your experience level. There are people there from all skill levels, all ages, and all walks of life.
The Club La Huerta facility currently has 12 pickleball courts, daily open-play opportunities, a pool, a gym, tennis, and padel, and it welcomes drop-in players.
After your lesson, go to the café and order a smoothie. The one with vanilla protein and blended dates is my favorite.
They also have grab-and-go sandwiches, but I don’t arrive expecting an elaborate sit-down breakfast.
During the non-summer months, you can build your Saturday around the organic market on the grounds at La Huerta. Browse the local products, food, jewelry, clothing, and handmade pieces after you play.
Even though the full market shuts down after June, Mundo Orgánico still sets up there every Saturday, serving delicious organic tacos and fresh seafood.
Bring along proper court shoes, a hat, and some electrolytes. Or, my favorite is grabbing a ‘rusa’ from the smoothie bar while you’re there, which comes with freshly squeezed lime juice, salt, and mineral water.
Lastly, stay open to chatting with people around the courts. Pickleball is one of the easiest ways to meet people naturally in Los Cabos without signing up for a formal social event.
6. Blend Your Own Fragrance at HIVE
Photo via Hive at Flora Farms
HIVE Fragrance Studio at Flora Farms is such a beautiful choice when you want to create something personal to bring home from your trip.
The studio has more than 70 natural fragrances, including scents made with flowers and herbs grown at Flora Farms. You can blend a personal fragrance, or create something such as a hair perfume, linen mist, body serum, skin butter, bath soak, or exfoliant. Private appointments with a trained perfumer are also available for a more guided experience.
I love the thought of creating a scent based on whatever you are naturally drawn to that day. Maybe it is soft and floral, warm and earthy, or completely different from what you usually wear.
It gives you something more personal than a standard souvenir. Every time you wear it or mist it around your home, it can bring back the afternoon you spent wandering around the farm in Baja.
Afterward, stay for brunch, explore the shops, or simply walk around the property before heading back into town. Flora Farms is outside central San José del Cabo, so I would give yourself enough time to enjoy being there instead of treating the fragrance appointment like a quick stop.
Planning tip: HIVE’s schedule changes seasonally, and private sessions should be booked ahead. Reserve your meal on OpenTable or with the staff on-site in advance if you want to eat at Flora Farms, and arrange your return transportation before you arrive if you don’t have a car.
7. Design a Hat at Corazón Playero
A custom hat feels especially fitting in Los Cabos. You can wear it throughout the rest of the trip, take it home, and continue reaching for it long after your vacation ends.
Corazón Playero has a studio in San José del Cabo where you can see local artisans embroidering and customizing its pieces. You can choose a hat that suits your style, then personalize the details rather than buying something already finished from a resort gift shop.
You might keep it neutral and understated, add your initials, or choose colors and embroidery that feel a little more playful than what you normally wear. Either way, it becomes something you chose slowly and intentionally, rather than another purchase made while rushing through the airport.
The studio is in Colonia Magisterial rather than the main Gallery District, so check the location before heading out.
8. Make Chocolate at Chocola-Tre
Chocola-Tre is a small bean-to-bar chocolate factory in downtown San José del Cabo, and its workshop takes you through the process of transforming cacao into chocolate.
You learn about the history of cacao, see how it moves from the bean to the finished bar, and take part in roasting, shelling, grinding, and molding your own chocolate. The experience ends with cacao served as a drink and a truffle tasting, which feels like a very good way to finish any date.
This is a lovely solo activity because you are naturally engaged from the moment you arrive. You are learning, tasting, and working alongside the chocolatier, without needing to bring someone else to make the experience enjoyable.
It also connects you with a part of Mexican food culture that goes much deeper than simply ordering dessert. Chocola-Tre works with cacao from Mexican producers and describes itself as the first artisanal chocolate factory in Baja California Sur.
Consider reserving your workshop before arriving and confirm which language it will be taught in. During the hottest months, be sure to take your goodies right back to your hotel so they don’t melt in the heat.
9. Spend an Afternoon Creating at Taller Contorno
Taller Contorno is a ceramics studio in downtown San José del Cabo that offers hand-building classes, pottery-wheel instruction, and other creative workshops.
A ceramics class feels especially lovely on a solo trip because it gives the afternoon a little structure, while still feeling peaceful and unhurried. You get to put your phone away, work with your hands, and focus on creating something you will genuinely enjoy seeing again at home.
Maybe that is a cup for your morning coffee, a small dish for your jewelry, or a serving piece that reminds you of Los Cabos whenever you use it.
You don’t need previous experience. The studio offers beginner-friendly classes, including a two-hour hand-building session.
Taller Contorno is on Calle Manuel Doblado in the center of San José, so it is easy to continue your afternoon with lunch, shopping, or a walk around Plaza Mijares.
10. Turn the Art Walk Into a Proper Evening Out
The San José del Cabo Art Walk is one of the easiest evenings to enjoy on your own.
During the season, the galleries in the historic Art District stay open later on Thursday nights, and the surrounding streets fill with art, music, restaurants, locals, and visitors. The event generally runs from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., from November through June.
Get dressed in something that makes you feel beautiful, but choose shoes you can comfortably walk in. Arrive while there is still a little daylight, then let yourself move slowly between the galleries.
Maybe you fall in love with a large painting you could never realistically fit in your luggage. Or maybe you opt for a smaller ceramic piece, photograph, or piece of jewelry that you decide to take home. You don’t necessarily have to buy anything. Half the fun is simply walking around and viewing the pieces or chatting with the artists.
Afterward, take yourself to dinner somewhere in the Art District. Choose a table outside when the weather is comfortable, or sit at the bar when you feel like being around a little more conversation.
11. Get a Day Pass at Hotel El Ganzo
Hotel El Ganzo in La Playita is perfect for a solo date when you want a day beside the water, but still want somewhere with a little more personality than a traditional resort.
The hotel is centered around art, music, wellness, and creative residencies, and its beach club sits on one of the swimmable coves in San José del Cabo. The property also hosts a variety of changing events, so it is worth looking at the current calendar before you go.
The Ganzo de Playa day pass is currently offered daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with most of the adult pass applied toward food and beverage credit. The hotel does not take reservations for the pass, so it recommends calling a couple of hours before arriving to confirm availability. Prices, access, and inclusions can change, so always check directly.
I would arrive early enough to settle in properly rather than trying to squeeze it into one afternoon. Stay at the beach club, or ask about rooftop access when you would rather spend part of the day by the pool.
Don’t forget to bring identification, mineral sunscreen, a hat, and a light layer or cover-up for moving around the property.
12. Take Yourself to Golden Hour at T1ME & CO
Photo via T1ME & Co
I’m always happy to find places where a nonalcoholic drink still feels curated and special.
T1ME & CO in Cabo San Lucas has a Conscious Bar serving coffee and alcohol-free elixirs made with natural ingredients and adaptogens. The terrace also has sweeping views over Médano Beach, the ocean, and the Arch.
Go later in the afternoon, order whichever elixir sounds most interesting, and choose a seat where you can watch the sunset.
Bring your journal when you are in the mood to write, bring a book, or bring absolutely nothing that requires you to accomplish something. Sometimes pouring into yourself just means choosing somewhere beautiful, ordering something made with care, and giving yourself time to enjoy it.
FYI: T1ME & CO is a coworking and wellness space rather than a conventional evening bar, so confirm its hours and visitor-access options before planning around golden hour.
Plan the Date You’d Love to Be Taken On
A solo date doesn’t have to be elaborate to feel special, but I do think it deserves a little intention.
Book the lesson you’ve been curious about. Blend the fragrance. Get dressed up for Art Walk, spend the morning playing pickleball, or give yourself an entire afternoon at El Ganzo.
I love sharing beautiful experiences with the people I care about, but I also adore the feeling of planning something with only my own enjoyment in mind.
That is one of the sweetest parts of solo travel or simply venturing off by yourself while vacationing with others.
You can wake up, check in with yourself, and choose what kind of day would feel good.
Then go create it.
