9 of the Most Inspiring Books for Female Entrepreneurs and Freelancers
If you’re looking for books to inspire you as a woman in business, you’ve come to the right place. I hope these books inspire you in your freelance writing or entrepreneurship journey like they have mine. This blog post may contain affiliate links to help support this blog but I only share books that have truly made an impact on my life.
Ever since I jumped into starting my freelance writing business over eight years ago, reading has influenced my journey.
But lately, I’ve been on an even bigger reading kick, with everything from books on business strategy to books on spirituality that I’ve applied to both my business and life in general. I’ve already crossed off 12 books from my list so far this year.
Starting and growing a business has been one of the most spiritual journeys of my life (next to having a baby). So naturally, I’ve been reading all the books I can get my hands on to learn from the experts. Whatever is going on in my life at the moment, I’ll read a book on it. Spirituality, psychology, money, manifestation, productivity, and self-care.
I’ve curated a list of books that have deeply resonated with me, and I want to share them with you. Whether you’re looking to improve your mindset, strategize your next marketing move, gain more clients, or infuse spirituality into your business, I hope you too can find inspiration in my top picks!
1. A Happy Pocket Full of Money - David Cameron Gikandi
I actually listened to this one as an audiobook, but “A Happy Pocket Full of Money” is a must-read (or listen) when it comes to mastering your money mindset. Beyond just making more money, it’s about understanding the deeper principles of wealth and abundance. And trust me, the message will bleed into all areas of your life. What I love most about this book is that it’s not just another “woo woo” read—Gikandi blends quantum physics with spiritual principles. It’s actually backed by science and it changed how I view money. It’s no longer just a means to an end but a tool for manifesting the life you desire.
2. Girl Code - Cara Alwill
I LOVE me a good book written by a fellow female entrepreneur. I have been following Cara Alwill since before I ever took the leap into starting freelance writing over 6 years ago. Her book "Girl Code" is all about the power of connection, collaboration, and community among women in business. Cara Alwill’s writing is like a warm hug from your bestie after she just gave you a tough-love kick in the butt (the one that we all sometimes need). This book is ultimately a reminder that we’re all in this together, and when women support each other, incredible things happen.
3. The 4-Hour Workweek - Tim Ferris
Ah, a classic but a goodie! Tim Ferriss is a huge idol of mine. If you haven’t read this book yet, then it’s an absolute must. "The 4-Hour Workweek" is a game-changer when it comes to rethinking how we approach work and productivity. It’s about working smarter, not harder, and creating a lifestyle that aligns with your values and passions. This book has inspired me to design my business around the life I want, rather than the other way around.
4. Super Attractor - Gabrielle Bernstein
This was one of the first books I read when I dipped my toes into spirituality. I often find myself re-reading it whenever I need a reminder that everything is happening FOR me, not to me. Gabrielle Bernstein’s "Super Attractor" teaches you how to align with the Universe and manifest your desires. It’s an excellent read for anyone looking to infuse more positivity and intention into their life and business.
5. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind - T. Harv Eker
If you don’t mind a little tough love, “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” is a game-changer when it comes to understanding the psychology of wealth. T. Harv Eker breaks down the mindset and habits of millionaires, showing you how to reprogram your thoughts for financial success. My biggest takeaway? This book showed me that money is a reflection of our inner world. So, if you’ve ever wanted to know how to raise your financial thermostat, this is the book for you.
6. How to Be an Overnight Success: Making it in Business - Maria Hatzistefanis
“How to be an Overnight Success” is an easy but inspiring read, perfect for bedtime or poolside lounging. Maria Hatzistefanis shares her journey of building her beauty empire, showing that "overnight success" often takes years of hard work, persistence, and passion. We live in a society that is used to instant gratification, which is why so many of us give up on our business ideas before we ever see success. This book is a great reminder that success is not always linear, and it’s okay to stumble along the way. It’s relatable, motivating, and a must-read for anyone needing a feel-good dose of inspiration.
7. $100M Offers by Alex Hormozi
If you’re in the mood for a book on business strategy rather than the topic of manifesting, this one is for you. Alex Hormozi’s "$100M Offers" teaches you how to create offers so irresistible that your customers can’t say no. It’s packed with practical advice on pricing, positioning, and value creation. If you’re looking to level up your business strategy and boost your revenue, this book is a goldmine.
8. Believe It by Jamie Kern Lima
Jamie Kern Lima’s story of founding IT Cosmetics and eventually selling it for over a billion dollars is nothing short of inspiring. I’ve heard her speak on numerous podcasts so I had to grab a copy of "Believe It." The book shows that with perseverance, self-belief, and staying true to your vision, you can overcome any obstacle. It’s a heartwarming and honest look at the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. I walked away from this book feeling more empowered than ever to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles.
9. Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Ambitious Women by Kate Northrup
Admittedly, I’ve just started reading this one, but I had to throw it in because it aligns so perfectly with where I am in my entrepreneurial journey. Kate Northrup’s "Do Less" is all about optimizing your time and energy, focusing on what truly matters, and letting go of the rest. As someone who’s all about doing LESS at this stage in my business and in life, this book is speaking my language. Sometimes we all need a gentle yet powerful reminder that sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is to slow down and trust the process. Stay tuned for a full review of this book in the weeks to come!
I hope these books inspire and uplift you on your entrepreneurial or freelance writing journey as much as they have for me. Each one has played a pivotal role in shaping my mindset, strategy, and approach to business and life.
Happy reading!
